Lenovo, Motorola Accuse Interdigital of 3G, 4G Patent Scheme (1)

Lenovo and Motorola sued Interdigital Inc. in Delaware federal court Monday, claiming the wireless technology maker extorts exorbitant license fees by threatening endless litigation over thousands of patents it falsely classifies as “standard essential” for 3G and 4G cellphones.

Interdigital “has engaged in a multi-pronged scheme, through a combination of agreements with its competitors and fraudulent promises, to unlawfully acquire, maintain, and exploit” the ability to block phones from the market if they potentially infringe those patents, the lawsuit says.
