Labor Antitrust Enforcement Gets Boost in FTC, NLRB Coordination

The FTC and National Labor Relations Board plan to share information and collaborate on training and outreach in their continued mission of cracking down on practices that hurt workers.

The agencies will work together to confront issues of labor market concentration, one-sided contracts like noncompete agreements, and worker classification and gig economy developments, according to the new memorandum of understanding announced Tuesday by the Federal Trade Commission and the NLRB.

The new effort’s goal is to protect workers’ ability to act collectively that could be disrupted by companies’ unfair labor practices or anti-competitive conduct, according to the agencies’ statement.
