Judge in Peanut Cartel Case Revokes Order Approving Settlements

A $58 million settlement that appeared to have resolved most of a peanut price-fixing class action against top shelling companies was temporarily undone when a federal judge in Virginia rescinded his ruling approving the deal.

Judge Raymond A. Jackson, who gave the deal his blessing March 4, vacated that opinion Thursday in a one-page decision that didn’t contain any explanation or reasoning. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
