Groups Suing Sanderson Farms Over Chicken Say They Have Standing

Friends of the Earth and the Center for Food Safety have standing to sue Sanderson Farms Inc. for allegedly deceptively touting its chicken as 100% natural despite antibiotic use and lack of outdoor time for the birds, the groups told the Ninth Circuit in a filing.

Last year, the Northern District of California said the groups don’t have “organizational standing” to pursue the suit under California consumer protection laws, because they can’t show an allegedly deceptive ad campaign made them divert resources from their missions.
