Facebook Ordered to Face Israeli Data Scraper’s Competition Claim

Facebook Inc. must face claims that its efforts to stop an Israeli advertising company’s data scraping practices crossed the line into unlawful interference with its business, a federal magistrate in San Francisco ruled.

Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero let BrandTotal Ltd. move forward late Wednesday with some of the counterclaims it lobbed against Facebook after the social media giant sued it in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California for fraud, unfair competition, and breach of contract.
